Every time you talk, sing, or point to what you are talking about, you are helping to build your toddler’s language skills. Find books at your bookstore or library. Rockford Public Library is full of great books that foster talking, singing, and pointing!
Babies ages 0 to 3 months have an easier time focusing on high-contrast objects. During this stage of development, it can be beneficial to show babies books that are black and white with contrasting images, photos, or patterns.
There are many wonderful books about counting and numbers. Find books at your local bookstore or library. Rockford Public Library is full of great books that build a math-ready mind!

Show affection and comfort by giving frequent cuddles, hugs, and kisses. This will help your baby to begin to understand love. Reading a book with your baby about love and affection can help maximize love and reduce stress too.
There is an abundance of great picture books that can spur conversation with your preschooler. Some of the best are “wordless.” Wordless books can open up dialogue between you and your preschooler.
